Finance and Accounts Department

The department manages and registers all the accounting activities and supervises budget implementation in the Accountant General's Office. This is done by common, unified procedure management and by implementing the internal controls embedded in these procedures. The office is also responsible for the management of unique broad-based issues such as:

  1. Collection and compilation of the budget data and its implementation in the Office of the Accountant General.
  2. Responsibility for Statewide Property, Plant and Equipment registration, verification and reconciliation.
  3. Accounting Management and collation of Accruals and Commitments.
  4. On behalf of the OAG issue circular for a monthly Stock count and follow up of reconciliation in all MDAs.
  5. Formulation of Accounting policy and maintenance of Accounting standard.
  6. Maintain and operate the accounts of the office of Accountant General periodically,
  7. Reconciliation of accounts and bank statements of the Office of the Accountant General on a monthly basis.
