The Public Relation Department as a management function in the Office of the Accountant General will have as strategic objectives:
- Anticipating, analyzing and interpreting public opinion, attitudes and issues that might impact, for good or ill, the operations and plans of the OAG.
- Counseling management at all levels in OAG with regard to policy decisions, courses of action and communication, taking into account their public.
- Researching, conducting and evaluating, on a continuing basis, programs of action and communication to achieve the informed public understanding necessary to the success of aims and objectives of the Office of the Accountant General.
In specific terms the department will carry out the following:
- Educates the public and stakeholders on the programs and activities of the AG’s office through Media/Public Communication, Talk Shops, Advocacy Outreaches, Roads shows, etc.
- Produces and disseminates Press Releases and facilitates publicity in the Mass Media.
- Produces and facilitates publication and broadcast of Corporate Public Announcements and Advertorials in Print and Electronic Media.
- Monitors and evaluates the Print and Electronic Media reportage on the Accountant General’s office for Feedback and Follow-up Measures.
- Prepares, supervises and produces Documentaries, Publicity Brochures, Posters, Handbills, Fliers and Jingles for public mobilization, awareness creation, support and understanding among the Accountant General's publics.
- Coordinates the AG's office public/media events and programs in collaboration with relevant Departments.
- Liaises with and answers enquiries from the AG's publics.
- Carries out Photographic and Video Coverage, Production and Documentation of the Accountant General's events, programs and activities
